Finding New Voice: Using Communication to Manage Organizational Change

In a broad context, her research focuses on improving the management of communications that are critical for business. Current research focuses on the complexities involved in reporting adverse news externally and internally. She recently examined how prepared soon-to-be-new hires in Asia and the US are for subordinate reporting, particularly when the news is bad. This latter effort elaborates her theory of 'organizational voice' where she argues that an organization's unique linguistic and rhetorical patterns, genre use, media choices, and communication protocols for timing and distribution comprise a 'voiceprint' that may enhance or restrict participation.
